  • This week we saw two major airlines in financial trouble:
    - Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in the US.
    - Canadian ultra-low cost carrier Flair Airlines owes $67m in unpaid taxes as the Canadian Revenue Service starts seizing assets.
  • After last week's news of Ryanair and OTA loveholidays making a deal, this week we heard of them and Kiwi.com forging a partnership.
  • It was also announced that kiwi.com is laying off about 1/5th of their team (as a result of this deal perhaps?).
  • American Airlines doubles down on it's internet and direct distribution strategy. 
  • Virgin Atlantic teams up with China Eastern Airlines Global
  • Amadeus acquires biometrics solution company Vision-Box for €320m.
